Research objectives of the project and related Work Packages

WP1) To structure of new scientific knowledge on the physical mechanisms for pathogen exposure and engineering strategies for controlling risk and reducing infection risk by 30% in transient humancentric indoor environment.

D1.1-D1.3: mathematical models for microbial sources, their emission phenomena and resuspension processes; applicable
models for deposition and resuspension processes on any type of surfaces in health care facilities and pharmaceutical
cleanrooms; detailed characterization of turbulent airflow distribution in surgical microenvironment

WP2) To develop synergic approaches to enable high performing ventilation and airflow distribution systems for different healthcare applications that optimize multiple criteria of energy efficiency, infection risk and thermal comfort.

D2.1-D2.3: improved knowledge on improving persons’ perception on indoor climate in hospitals using novel IoT control
platform, the correlation between psychological response and physiological measurements and physiological response;
physiological models with input data for individual thermal sensation predictions; a novel real-time tool to monitor the level
of airborne micro-organisms within healthcare facilities

WP3) To develop novel smart design, forecasting, monitoring and visualization tools to enable an effective human centric indoor climate, piloting and demonstrating in training, risk assessment, design validation and verification.

D3.1-D3.4: new numerical methods for airflow and contaminant visualization using fluid simulations and augmented reality;
visualization of dynamic volumetric data such as airborne contaminants based on a grid of point-wise measurements; a
novel low-order data-mining based algorithms to extract the airflow organisation with a limited number of probes;
development of a web-based system data collection related to various airborne contaminants within health care facilities
