On 18 June 2026, the HumanIC team organised the workshop “Human-Centric Indoor Climate for Healthcare Facilities” as part of the Indoor Air 2026 conference in Singapore. The session was moderated by Prof. Guangyu Cao and brought together researchers and professionals interested in creating healthier and safer healthcare environments.
The workshop featured presentations by HumanIC Doctoral Candidates Jixuan Bao, Vasco Pedro Vasconcelos, Fang Huu, Kunal Bairwa, and Jiyeong Jung, as well as a contribution from invited expert Prof. Cath Noakes. The presentations addressed key challenges related to indoor climate in healthcare facilities, including:
- infection risks and ventilation strategies in patient rooms;
- environmental and procedural factors affecting surgical microenvironments;
- data-driven modelling of operating rooms;
- experimental methods for airflow visualisation;
- the influence of human presence and activity on airborne pathogen dispersion.
The workshop was a great success, generating lively discussion and providing an excellent opportunity to present HumanIC research to an international audience. It also encouraged valuable exchanges between researchers, practitioners, and other stakeholders working to improve indoor environmental quality and infection control in healthcare buildings.
