Aalto University hosted the fourth HumanIC Cohort-Based Training, focused on technical ventilation solutions, research data presentation, and professional skills development. Over five intensive days, Doctoral Candidates participated in scientific lectures, practical demonstrations, knowledge exchange, and meetings with representatives of research institutions and industry.
- Day 1 began with the HumanIC online conference Human-Centric Indoor Climate for Healthcare Facilities, involving invited stakeholders.
- Days 2 and 3 focused on technical ventilation solutions. Participants explored modelling and simulation data analysis, the influence of internal heat gains on air distribution, and experimental methods for analysing and visualising ventilation performance. Practical activities included smoke visualisation and tracer gas measurements. During a study visit to the Halton factory and laboratories in Kausala, the Doctoral Candidates learned about ventilation-system production, industrial R&D, marketing, and specialised solutions for healthcare environments, including operating rooms.
- Day 4 was dedicated to the analysis, interpretation, and presentation of research data. The sessions addressed preparing research results for journal publications, communicating scientific work to different audiences, identifying key findings in large datasets, and ventilation design practices in Finnish hospitals.
- Day 5 focused on research, professional, and transferable skills. The programme included practical guidance on standing out at conferences and professional events, tools and techniques for effective teaching, work on the REHVA Guidebook Task Force, and a peer exchange on publishing experiences. The training concluded with a joint summary and farewell session.
CBT4 combined scientific knowledge with hands-on learning and insights from professional practice. It also provided another valuable opportunity for HumanIC Doctoral Candidates, supervisors, researchers, and industry partners to exchange experiences and strengthen collaboration within the network.
The event was organised by Aalto University in cooperation with Halton, Granlund, REHVA, Universidad Carlos III de Madrid, and Warsaw University of Technology.
